Last year I took part in the Makers' Fair that was held on the last weekend of the Saltaire Arts Trail.
It was a very well organised event, had a great atmosphere and lots of visitors.

This years Makers' Fair will be held on the first weekend of the Arts Trail.

Saturday 13th September 10.30am - 6.00pm
Sunday 14th September 10.00 - 5.00pm

It will take place in the Victoria Hall, Victoria Road, Saltaire.

I'm looking forward to taking part again this year.

The Arts Trail is part of the Saltaire Festival.
It celebrates the birthday of Titus Salt-the 19th century mill owner and philanthropist who built Saltaire.

Otley Courthouse

A small exhibition of my work is now showing at the Otley Courthouse , West Yorkshire.

I'm a big fan of the Courthouse.

It's a small Arts Centre that has a varied program of visiting performers.
It houses classes for kids and adults, and holds special "one off" events.
It's a very friendly and accessible place to visit.
And it's got a really nice cafe....

The Great Barn

About ten years ago I read a book called: "Good Citizen Furniture-The Arts and Crafts Collection at Cheltenham" by Annette Carruthers and Mary Greenstead.[pub.Cheltenham Art Gallery and Lund Humphries]

It was about the leading furniture makers and craftsmen in the Arts and Crafts Movement.
Very well written and researched and it had some great photographs in it.
It was very inspiring!

At this point I decided I had to go to the Cotswolds.

I visited an old friend who lives outside Cirencester.
He is very knowledgeable and he took me on a pilgrimage to the important sites.

We started at Cheltenham Art Gallery.
The Collection was even better than I had imagined.

We finished at Lechlade and Kelmscott Manor where William Morris lived and worked.
He is buried in the local churchyard.

On the way home we made a surprise stop to see the Great Coxwell Barn.

It's a tithe barn that was built in the 13th century-and one of the finest buildings I have ever seen.

Last summer I went back and took some pictures.
